William Zinn

November 16, 1939 — July 10, 2018

William Earl Zinn "Bill", 78, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2018. He was born Nov. 16, 1939 in Washington, DC. He graduated from Calvert County High School and then proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force as a radar operator from 1962 to 1966. Bill then graduated from Frostburg State University with a Master's Degree in Physical Education. He taught in Calvert County for over 25 years and then retired to the beaches in 1998. During retirement, Bill worked at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home as a staff associate for more than 15 years.

Bill was a member of Ocean Park Baptist Church and had served as a  deacon and held many other leadership positions over the years in various Baptist Churches.  Bill was a country boy who enjoyed hunting, sports, spending time with family (Skipbo championships), and walking the beaches where he loved to hunt for shark's teeth.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret; children, Susan Walker, Connie Zinn and David Zinn; grandchildren, Eric Walker, Sarah Walker Nix (Christopher)  and Lauren Walker; great grandson, Mason Nix; and brother, Thomas Zinn. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Emmamay Zinn; and brothers, Charles, Donald and Harry Zinn.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, July 14, 2018 in Ocean Park Baptist Church, 402 16th Ave. S., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, followed by the funeral service at 11:00a.m. Bill will be laid to rest in a private family service at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
