William Thurman

William “Bill” Neal Thurman died on June 18th, with family at his bedside. He was so looking forward to rejoining Ginnie, his wife of 65 years.
Raised in Birmingham and Atlanta, Bill finished his last year in high school at Tech High in Atlanta.
As a student and Pi Kappa Alpha member at The University of Georgia, Bill played the trumpet in a ten-piece band known as The Georgia Collegians.
Bill served in the U. S. Army in World War II and had a long career in the life insurance business.
In Atlanta, he was dedicated to youth service, especially through leadership in Little League Baseball, The Atlanta Rotary Club and Atlanta’s Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. He continued that devotion in Ponte Vedra largely through his support and active leadership in Young Life at the Beaches.
Bill was proud of his three children, Lynne, Bill & Jan, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial Service is Friday, July 22 at 2pm at Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Young Life, P.O. Box 3257, Ponte Vedra, Florida 32004 or the charity of your choice.
