William Reilly

William “Bill” Joseph Reilly, 70, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Bill was born on January 1, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised in Harrison, NJ. He moved to Ocean County, NJ, in 1974 and retired as a Detective from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of service. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, in 1972, and they raised two children in Lacey Township, NJ. They retired to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, in 2009. Bill was an active member of the Police Benevolent Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Sons of the American Legion, Emerald Society, Moose, and Elks. More than anything, Bill enjoyed spending fun times with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Luke and Jean Reilly, and his daughter, Margaret Lee Reilly. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Chinsky) Reilly; his son and family, William and Elizabeth Reilly, and two grandchildren, Finn and Margaret Grace; and his sister and her husband, Barbara and Leonard Wimbush. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, FL, on Friday, February 23, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his daughter’s memorial scholarship fund. Checks may be made payable to “Margaret Lee Reilly Memorial Scholarship Fund”, and mailed to Purdue University, Dick & Sandy Dauch Alumni Center, 403 West Wood Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907-2007.
