Walter B. Grader, 92, of Jacksonville, FL went to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2016. He was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Greenfield, MA. He is survived by wife Madeline Chambers Grader of 61 years. Also a daughter Lititia Grader and son David B. Grader (wife Phyllis).
Grader was a veteran of WWII serving in Europe with the 9th Air Force from 1943 to 1945. His unit, the 368th Fighter Group was awarded the Presidential Citation. He was among the first men of the 9th Air Force to be based in France shortly after the D-Day invasion of Normandy.
Mr. Grader was a graduate of the New York State Ranger School in 1947. He received his B.S. Degree in Forestry from Syracuse University in 1950. He was employed in the hardwood lumber business for over 35 years. Retiring from the Kimberly-Clark Corp. in 1983 as President of the Atlantic Lumber division.
Currently a member of the First Christian Church of the Beaches, Neptune Beach. During retirement Walter and his wife participated in 4 Work & Witness mission projects in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Azores & northern New Hampshire.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Egret Hall, Cypress Village. Remembrances may be made to the Cypress Village Scholarship Fund 4600 Middleton Park Circle, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
