Vivian G. Ogletree

Vivian G. Ogletree passed away on August 5, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 70. Born on August 17, 1953, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, she was a private member of the community and a pioneer in her professional field. There will be a Visitation held for family and friends in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

 Vivian graduated from Crestview High School before earning an AA degree in Math from FCCJ in Jacksonville attending night courses while employed. She embarked on a notable career with the Jacksonville Electric Authority, where she started as a Clerk/Typist. Through her determination and dedication, Vivian broke barriers as the first female Field Engineer in Distribution Engineering and retired as a Field Engineering Supervisor  after 34 years of service.

 Beyond her professional achievements, Vivian was passionate about embroidery and deeply devoted to her pets, especially her beloved Yorkies, Mortimer and Kirby. She also volunteered with the Community Hospice dog therapy program, bringing joy and comfort to many with her faithful companion, Mortimer.

 Vivian is survived by her husband, Ronald Ogletree; three stepsons, Brett, Wayne and James; cousins, Debbie and Steve Geohagan of Florala, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Montaree Geohagan of Crestview, FL, and Ron’s father, Samuel A. Ogletree.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Vivian can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, reflecting her love for animals and her spirit of generosity at www.jaxhumane.org. Vivian's legacy of kindness, resilience, and compassion will be remembered by all who knew her.
