On Friday August 30, 2019 Virginia Marie Heskett peacefully passed to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Virginia was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 26, 1939. She was the daughter of Elmer and Roberta Heskett.
After leaving Cleveland, Ohio she moved to San Diego, California where she owned and operated a laundromat in the Ocean Beach area and quickly became a popular fixture in her community. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida and began working in the healthcare field caring for the elderly in their homes and becoming part of their extended family.
She was very proud of her volunteer work that she did with Brooks Rehab and The YMCA assisting patients in The Adaptive Aquatics Class. She loved the water and swimming which added to her enthusiasm to help the disabled patients with water exercises.
Virginia loved to travel and was very proud and happy to share her stories of how she had travelled to all 50 states. She loved waterfalls and made it a quest to see them all and climb as many as possible. Virginia had a zest for life, an infectious laugh, a large loving heart and had many friends throughout the country. No matter where she went when she left she had made new friends. If she wanted to go somewhere she never let the distance stop her.
She was an active member of First Christian Church of The Beaches. She enjoyed singing in the choir and had very deep and loving relationships with her church family.
She will always be remembered for her kind gentle heart, homemade pumpkin bread and handmade baby blankets as well as her love for life and God. She will be truly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her three children: Kathleen, Susan, and Russell; her five grandchildren: Rebecca, Donald, Stacey, Alex, and Michael; and her two great grandchildren: Zariel and Mason. She was loved by her family very much and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on November 2nd at 11:00 am at First Christian Church of The Beaches, 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach, Florida 32266 with Pastor Chris Hopkins as Officiant.
Please join us in celebrating just how truly special she was.
