Vincent DiStefano, Sr.

Vincent James DiStefano, Sr. passed away at home on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.  He was 87. He was the loving husband to Joanne, and faithful father to sons: Vincent, Jr., Jeffrey, and Richard; and daughter, Melanie Hoffman; grandfather to nine grandchildren.  He is also survived by brothers, Nicola and John DiStefano, and sister, Ida Riccairdi.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lucy Miglio.
Long-time resident of Cinnaminson, NJ and, for the last 14 years, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Vince, or “Jimmy” as he was often known by his family, was born in Philadelphia to parents Sabatino and Josephine DiStefano, and grew up on the DiStefano farm in Medford, NJ, now Freedom Park.  He was a US Marine and served honorably during the Korean War.
He went on to work in the trucking industry as a terminal manager for a refrigerated truck carrier.  Later, he started his own business as a truck transportation broker. He owned and managed several shore vacation rental properties in New Jersey and Florida before retiring.
He thoroughly loved life and enjoyed his family.  A farmer at heart, he enjoyed gardening as an almost lifetime passion.  He is loved, well remembered, and will be missed.
No memorial service is planned.  The family is planning to honor their patriarch in a private manner at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
