COGHLAN- Vincent A. Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Englewood, New Jersey, died peacefully on March 16th with his family at his bedside. He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Isabelle (nee Keating) and Vincent Coghlan Sr. A graduate of Xavier High School in New York City, Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the Columbia Graduate Business School Executive Program, he served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy and spent 28 years in various executive positions at New York Telephone and AT&T, where he specialized in operations management, information technology, and strategic planning. His last two professional positions were as Vice President of Chapter Operations and Vice President of Corporate Operations for the March of Dimes in White Plains, New York.
Vince was predeceased by his parents, his sister Isabelle, his daughter Theresa, his son-in-law Richard Wurm, his first wife and lifelong friend Judith (nee Paulsen), and dear friends Bill Alger, John Barton, Bob Marx, Stuart Bernstein, and Eric Steinberg. He is survived by Karen, his beloved wife of 47 years; daughters Katherine (Richard Wurm), Lisa (Steven Kartchner), Jeanne, and Mary (Peter Pouliopoulos); grandchildren Jeffrey (Larissa), Tom (Emily), Matthew (Madison), Andrew, Pelagia and Dimitri; four great-grandchildren, Henry, Mona, Sami, and Clara; his sister Bernice Ward; his brother Gerard; five nephews; a niece (his favorite niece, as he always said); and many loving cousins.
Vince was an avid reader. He loved music and art, golf, hiking and traveling, especially to Paris where he and Karen spent many wonderful vacations. Above all, however, he loved his family. Vince felt his greatest success in life was raising his daughters to become highly accomplished and successful professional women of great character.
Vince credits much of his life’s successes on the splendid education he received at Xavier High School in New York. He and his brother attended on financial scholarships and he was thrilled to be able to give back to future students by establishing the Coghlan Family Scholarship at the high school. In lieu of flowers, therefore, if donations are being considered, please direct them to The Coghlan Family Scholarship, Xavier High School, 30 West 16th Street, New York, NY 10011.
