Thomas Patrick Shouvlin, 65, passed away on September 21, 2016 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Springfield, OH on May 12, 1951, Tom moved to Jacksonville in 1973 after graduating from Ohio University where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta.
Tom will be remembered for his bigger-than-life personality and keen sense of humor. He never met a stranger and filled his days with family and friends whom he loved like family. His faith was strong and he dedicated many years in service to others. Tom was especially passionate about the Gator Bowl, Leadership Jacksonville, Katie Caples Foundation, SKAL and his FIJI brothers.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lynn; daughters, Megan Heck (Matthew), Meredith DiVita (Thomas) and Melissa Bryan (TR); grandchildren Hailey, Taylor, Thomas and Brooklyn; brother, Raphael; sisters Patricia Bonham and Torrie Parette; mother-in-law, Martha Lashells; step-brothers, Ken, David and Jim Proctor; and step-sister Cindy Whitley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Shouvlin; father and step-mother, Patrick and Carol Dean Shouvlin; father-in-law, Theodore Lashells; and three grandsons, Jack, Caden and Cameron.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Quinn-Shalz, Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Katie Caples Foundation or Youth Leadership Jacksonville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday, September 29, 2016 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Mike Houle as Celebrant.
