Fred Pape, 78, passed away December 20, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born April 30, 1945, in Seattle, WA. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kristie (née Boyer).
Fred is predeceased by his parents, Margaret May Pape, and Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Pape.
After spending his childhood and high school years in Prescott, AZ, Fred received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. After college, Fred moved to Atlanta, GA to begin a career in the railroad industry. He and Kristie met in Atlanta where they both lived at the infamous Riverbend Apartments and were married on May 29, 1976. During their marriage, they lived in Atlanta, Chicago, and St. Louis before moving to Jacksonville, FL in February 1999. During all these years, their friends became family.
Fred retired from the railroad industry having served General Motors, General Electric, Farr Company, CAE Vanguard, and Keystone Industries. After retirement, he began a second career in real estate with Watson Realty and Florida Homes Realty and Mortgage.
Fred traveled the world with his wife Kristie. He felt so fortunate that they had been able to travel extensively in their earlier and midlife years with the pictures and memories to prove how much fun they had. Fred enjoyed delighting Kristie on their beach walks with his knowledge of sea life. He enjoyed beach vacations, Grand Prix motor racing (as a spectator), and scuba diving.
His joie de vivre will be missed by many.
A private celebration of life will be held this spring. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice’s McGraw Center for Caring (the foundationcares.org/give/) or to your favorite charity.
