Sue A. Eischen

Sue Eischen, 83, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Savior on Friday April 14, 2023.

Sue was born in Lakeland, Florida on July 12, 1939. Daughter of James W. and Myrtis Porter, she grew up in Central Florida surrounded by beautiful and bountiful orange groves.

Sue met and later married the love of her life, Ike Eischen, in 1959. They raised two children and shared a life together for the next 54 years. Many wonderful adventures were afforded them with different stations around the country and world. Sue was a military wife and loving mother first – and always first.  As her children grew older, she began a tenured career with Blue Cross Blue Shield. After a move to California, she worked for a law firm in Sacramento until retirement.  Sue and Ike made many lifelong friends through their church affiliations and hosting friends and family at their homes over the years.

Sue was the most authentically kind and loving person. She did not have a mean or cruel thought ever, and always saw the absolute best in everyone. She had a young-at-heart spirit and was quick with a smile and the first to laugh. Sue was happiest anytime she was with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ike and her siblings Edwina, Sandra, Jimmy and Terry.  Survivors include her daughter Gretchen Eischen of Sacramento, California and son Erich (Lori) Eischen of Jacksonville. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Hilary Eischen, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A private interment service, with the Rev. Dana Brones officiating, will be held on May 18, 2023, at Shady Rest Cemetery in Holly Hill, Florida.
