Stuart Gammie

April 6, 1928 — May 10, 2016

Stuart A. Gammie passed away on May 10, 2016 following a longtime illness. Stu served his country with pride during the Korean War.

Stu moved from Stamford, CT in 1960 to Jax Beach where he became a well-known banker for over 45 years with First Beach Bank, First Union and Oceanside Bank. He loved his work and loved meeting his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 25 years, Marilyn; granddaughters, Melissa Smith, Kellie Whiddon; daughter-in-law, Pamela Gammie; son-in-law, Bill Carter; grandchildren, Marisa Reetz, Brandon Gammie, Miss Emma Ruth Carter, Thomas Read, Marissa Smith and MacKenzie Powell. He was predeceased by brother, Ron Gammie; wife, Ruth, the mother of their 3 children, Bob, Bill and precious daughter, Linda Gammie Carter.

Being married to Stu for 25 years was the most wonderful time of my life. Saying goodbye has been a very sad and difficult thing to do.

Stu will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
