Steve Herman Regelski of Jacksonville Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was 87 years old. He was born on April 17, 1935, and grew up in South River, NJ. Upon marriage, he moved to Edison and then to Parlin, NJ where he lived for 40 years, before moving to Florida for these last 21 years.
Steve was a hardworking and industrious man. He served two years as a Military Police Officer, Active Duty in the US Army, and two years in the US Army Reserves. He worked for 30 years for DuPont Photo Products, all while maintaining various part-time construction jobs learning the trade, which helped him build his own first two houses in New Jersey.
He was a graduate of the Jacksonville Beach Citizen’s Police Academy, and for his time in Jacksonville Beach, a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He was also one of the founding members of the Jacksonville Beach Panera Breakfast Club.
Steve is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Frances, of over 66 years. He has a son Todd Regelski and his wife Laura, and a daughter Connie Phillips and her husband Michael. He has six grandchildren, Ashley Orlando, Brittany Regelski, Bradley and Kevin Phillips, and Steven and Skylar Regelski, one great grandson, Vincent Orlando, and two grand dogs, Bella Regelski and Cruiser Phillips. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Sziatkowski and father, Steve Regelski both of South River, NJ, and one sister Charlotte Mandato of Edison, NJ. He has one surviving sister Valerie Slaughter of San Antonio, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 17 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 523 Pablo Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, with Father William Kelly Officiating, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, family has asked that donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital of which he was a long-time contributor.
