Sheryl Kruse Locke, 63, passed away on April 12, 2024, at her home in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by loving family and friends after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bradford Locke, and her father, Donald Kruse. She was the loving mother of Michael Locke of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kathryn (Katie) Locke, and son-in-law Sam Rayne of Jacksonville. Other surviving family members include her mother, Shirley Kruse and brother Greg Kruse of Albuquerque, as well as her sister, Deborah Myers, of Roswell, Georgia. She was also dearly loved by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Sheryl was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, to Donald and Shirley Kruse on July 20, 1960. She grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met Brad while attending church. Brad’s work took the family to Greenville, North Carolina and finally to Jacksonville, Florida.
She was a woman of many talents who was much loved by children and spent some time working as a day care teacher as well as coordinator of a day care center. At one point, she also had a very successful scrapbooking business and was the wedding coordinator for her church. She was known for having an incredible memory and amazing creativity. As a teen, she was a fantastic photographer. Later, she wrote a book called Constantine and the Fortress of Enlightenment simply for the fun of writing.
Those who knew Sheryl will remember her for her quick laugh and for her devoted love. She loved to travel, and she loved to shop. She also loved the movies and seeing musicals on stage. She adored her children and one of her greatest joys was the opportunity to coordinate a wedding for her own daughter.
She will be greatly missed by friends and family, but we rejoice knowing that she is home, free from suffering in the presence of her Father and reunited with loved ones.
A Celebration in honor of Sheryl’s Life will be held on Friday, May 24th at 3pm (EST) at the Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St. South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250Friday, May 24, 2024
