Sheila Reeder

March 26, 1936 — June 24, 2018

Sheila Foley Reeder, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home at age 82 on Sunday morning June 24, 2018. Sheila was born in Alameda, California on March 26, 1936 and was raised in Arlington, Virginia. At four years of age she was able to play tunes on the piano by ear, and this began her lifelong love of music. She later attended college as a music major at Mary Washington College.

For many years Sheila served in the legal profession in the Washington, D.C. area, but made a bold decision in the early ‘90s to relocate to Jacksonville Beach, following her sister and brother-in-law who had recently retired and moved to the Jacksonville area. She then worked as the Legal Librarian for the PGA Tour, retiring after many years at age 79.

Sheila was preceded in death by her eldest son, Douglas Lee (D.L.) Reeder III. She is survived by her beloved sons, Kevin Reeder and Bradford S.L. Reeder, daughter-in-law Kimberly Heath Reeder, grandchildren Lucy Rose Reeder and Patrick Baer Reeder, dear sisters, Jerry Foley Crouch and Sister Joan Foley, and too many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends than can be named here.

When we think of Sheila we remember her resilience in overcoming great difficulties, her wonderful gift of friendship to so many, her love of life and her delightful sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 30, 2018, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Reverend William Kelly as Celebrant. The church is located at 435 1st Ave North, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.

In lieu of flowers donations made be made to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at https://afsp.org.
