Sandra Ann Schiefen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 27, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on December 30, 1940, in Auburn, New York to the late Mario and Marian Diego. Sandra's life was a testament to love, faith, and selflessness.
Sandra devoted her life to her family as a full-time homemaker. She poured her heart into raising her children, ensuring their happiness and well-being. One of her proudest accomplishments was her consistent attendance and complete support of every school event in which her children participated; she never missed a single one. If there was any way to attend events that included her grandchildren, she was there as well. Her unwavering support and presence brought joy to their lives and instilled in them the value of commitment and dedication.
As a deeply spiritual individual and a devout Catholic, Sandra's faith was an integral part of her life. Her commitment to attending mass never wavered; she found solace and guidance within the walls of the parishes of which she was a member. Sandra's spirituality shone through every action, from her patient demeanor to her generosity with both her time and resources.
In addition to being a loving mother and dedicated Catholic, Sandra was involved in the Lionette's Club. Her membership in this organization allowed her to further express her kind-hearted nature by contributing to charitable causes within the community.
Beyond her family and faith commitments, Sandra had a creative side that manifested through knitting. She poured love into each stitch as she knitted special blankets for all of her children and grandchildren. Furthermore, Christmas stockings became a cherished tradition as she knitted them for everyone close to her heart. These handmade gifts serve as lasting reminders of Sandra's warmth and care.
Sandra is predeceased by her son John T. Schiefen, Jr. and her sweet granddaughter, Kelsey Schiefen.
She leaves behind an incredible legacy that will continue through the lives of those she touched. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John "Jack" T. Schiefen, Sr., who stood by her side through thick and thin. Her memories will forever live on in the hearts of her children: Cathy DeYoung (Bob DeYoung), Liz Schiefen, Cindy Kays (Brian Kays), and Steven Schiefen (Deidre Schiefen). She will be dearly missed by her eight cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sandra's siblings, Jack Diego and Jim Diego, also mourn the loss of their beloved sister. She was exceptional and made family gatherings all the more special with her warm presence.
