Samuel "Sam" Edward Mizerany, age 65, passed away on March 28, 2025, in St. Augustine, Florida. Born on December 27, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Edward and Jacqueline Mizerany, Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was married to Nadine Mizerany for 39 years.
Sam's early years in Birmingham fostered his love for sports and made him a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide-Roll Tide! At the age of 12, he moved to Miami, Florida, where he became a passionate supporter of the Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins-Go Canes! Go Dolphins! Sam graduated from Southridge High School in 1979, where he was known as a "Ridge Rat" and was an active member of both the baseball and football teams. His talent on the field earned him a full baseball scholarship to Jacksonville University, where he completed a degree in Business Administration while continuing to excel in baseball.
Throughout his 42-year career, Sam worked in various roles that showcased his dedication to safety and compliance, including positions at Lockheed as a Property/Hazardous Waste Manager, Advanced Disposal Systems (ADS) as Compliance Manager/Internal Auditor/Safety Manager, and most recently as a Corporate Safety/Compliance Manager for Ceva Logistics.
Family meant the world to Sam, and his greatest pride was in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. Five years ago, he became "Sampa" to his beloved grandson, Jay. Sam and Jay shared a special bond, and Sam cherished every moment with his grandson, always excited to share new stories about Jay with friends and coworkers.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Sam excelled in many activities. Whether it was baseball, football, golf, fishing, or more recently pickleball, Sam approached everything with skill and enthusiasm. His love for pickleball grew so strong that he even recruited around 40 people in the Woods Community to join the game. Sam was particularly proud of his recent success, winning two gold medals in separate pickleball singles tournaments.
Sam was not only a great athlete but also a compassionate neighbor and friend who made a lasting impact on those around him. He had a warm, caring heart and always offered his help to others, touching the lives of many in his community.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jacqueline Mizerany; aunt, Oma Hoffman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jackie Kepley Sr. and Caroline Kepley; and his brother-in-law, Glenn Kepley.
