Ryan Paul Douglas, 15, got his angel wings on April 10, 2016, following a lifelong struggle with a multitude of health issues. His final days were spent comfortably at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Although Ryan’s life was too short, he came into this world with the expectation he would not live for more than a few minutes. He continued to beat the odds on a daily basis as he faced life’s toughest challenges with a smile. His unconditional love was contagious, and the special gifts that he has given to so many of us will endure.
Ryan was blessed with many wonderful caregivers, therapists, teachers, social workers and medical professionals that provided love and support which enhanced his quality of life. From his amazing group of caregivers in Phoenix, Arizona to his loving team in Jacksonville, Florida, the support that we have received is simply immeasurable and has truly shown us the power of the human spirit. Our most sincere thanks and appreciation go to those individuals that are simply too numerous to mention by name.
Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Keri and Spencer Calvert of Jacksonville, Florida and Adam and Amanda Douglas of Gilbert, Arizona; brothers Gavin, Miles, and Brody and sisters Kourtney and Macie; grandparents Lynda Clark, Hank and Sandy Roahrig, Mike and Paula Botzum, Richard and Barbara Mohney and Carol Calvert; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Stephanie Martin who helped care for Ryan throughout his life.
