Roy Hauge

Our beloved Roy Hauge of Atlantic Beach passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, to be with the Lord. Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 29, 1928. His parents were the late Helga and Ingolf Hauge. Roy was an only child. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, his one true love, Martha, and his infant son William. He leaves behind daughters Janet and Joy Hauge and their sister, Pamela (Jim) Flatley, two grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Roy and his family moved from Illinois to Bolivia in 1963, where he worked as a consulting civil engineer. From there the family moved to various Latin American countries and Spain. Roy finished his professional career in Manila, Philippines where he worked at the Asian Development Bank. Roy was involved in many charitable activities including translating for Spanish speaking immigrants, work for St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Amnesty International and Meals on Wheels. He embraced the Norwegian culture and language passed down by his immigrant parents. He was an avid fisherman, swimmer and guitar player, and enjoyed memberships at the American Legion and Elks Lodge. Roy was always very caring and kind, positive and personable. He had a terrific sense of humor.
The memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1801 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, Florida at 2pm on Friday, January 15, and will be shared virtually as well. If you would like a link to the virtual meeting please email: janethauge@gmail.com.
