Rose Marfuggi

Rose S. Marfuggi, 90, joined our Lord on September 21,2016. She was born on August 23, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey. Rose and her husband Bill retired to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1993.

“Rose” was a woman of strength, courage, sophistication, unending love of God, country and family. The focus of Rose’s life was family. Bill and Rose were the happiest when they were surrounded by their children. Family time skiing in Wyndham, New York brought family and friends together. Gathering for the holidays, family celebrations or gathering of friends was an opportunity for Rose to share her sense of elegance and style. Menu planning and setting the décor brought out the best in Rose.

She dedicated her life to helping others by volunteering her time and giving generously.  Rose started a consignment shop to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of NJ and was active in other events with her husband Bill in support of UCP. Her love reached out to her time spent as a volunteer at Summit Hospital, being a den mother or supporting other local charitable organizations. While living in Ponte Vedra, Rose was an usher at Our Lady Star of the Sea, volunteered at the library and Senior Center while finding time to play bridge and golf.  Rose loved capturing every moment by photographing events. She was the photographer for the Sawgrass Women’s Club. Her family knew that if Rose was around her camera was close and they needed to be ready to smile at a moment’s notice. Countless hours were spent creating needlepoint and cross stitch masterpieces.  Rose started her day attending Mass and having breakfast at Beach Diner. Rose touched the lives beyond the reaches of her family with her smile, grace and love.

Rose is survived by her daughter Victoria and husband Owen, son Vincent Marfuggi and wife Karen, daughter in-law Sheila Marfuggi, nine grandchildren, one great grandson and sister Palma Bartolotta. She was predeceased by her husband William, her son William Marfuggi Jr, her parents Vincent and Rose Salierno.

Calling hours will be in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vincent Salierno Scholarship Fund, American Optometric.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24th at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church  in Ponte Vedra Beach with Reverend Francisco Iacona as Celebrant.
