Ronald Carmichael

January 9, 1938 — February 26, 2018

Born on January 9, 1938 to Roy and Louise Carmichael, he graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School in 1955 then went on to attend the University of Florida. He joined the US Army Reserves where he served as an MP (Military Police) for 8½ years with an Honorable Discharge and also began his career with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in February of 1957 where he served 24 years assigned to Traffic Street Patrol, Motorcycle Detail, Accident Investigation and Special Operations. After his retirement from JSO in February of 1981, Malcolm began a second career as a Tractor Trailer Driver for Ryder and retired in February of 1992. Since his second retirement, he worked at various places including The Great Smoky Mountain Railway as the Conductor and The City and Police Federal Credit Union as their courier.

Malcolm had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a huge Florida Gator fan and an avid NASCAR fan…Richard Petty was his favorite driver). He also enjoyed motorcycles, riding his own whenever he could, attending Motorcycle races and Motor Cross events. He was a lifetime member in the Loyal Order of the Moose ~Mandarin Lodge #42/Chapter #1218 and was with the Morocco Shrine in Jacksonville where he was in the Funsters Unit as “Clancy the Clown Cop” for several years. He spent the majority of his life in Jacksonville, but lived in West Palm Beach while working for Ryder and also had a residence in Bryson City, North Carolina for many years.

Ronald “Malcolm” Carmichael peacefully passed away on February 26, 2018.

He is survived by one Brother~ Dan Carmichael (Cecilia), three Children~ Kevin Carmichael (Tina), Kirk Carmichael and Kelly Bass (Jon), six Grandchildren~ Noreen Bruce (Josh), Melissa Buchanan (Jason), Justin Bass, Austin Bass (Steffaney), Nicholas Carmichael and Hunter Bass (Hannah), seven Great-Grandchildren~ Grayson Bruce, Gabriel Bruce, Karlee Buchanan, Bella Grace Bruce, Harmony Bruce, Reed Bass and Rex Bass along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

Malcolm was loved by many…he loved many…he will be missed by many!
