Ronald Edward Burek passed away peacefully the week of November 9th in his home. He is survived by his three children, Sherri Ann Meisel (Ron Moroff) of Eugene, OR; Herky Kent Butler of Taylor, MI; Samantha Ann Burek (Chris Schmitz) of Deland, FL; brother, Donald G. Burek (Sheila); niece, Annette Aspley (Paul); RJ Nolan, who was like a son and numerous cousins and other family members along with his longtime friend and confident, John Ballas. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Burek and the longtime love of his life, Michelle Sapp.
Ron was born in Detroit, MI and relocated to Jacksonville, FL, in 1986. He was in the hospitality industry for over 48 years owning various establishments from the typical neighborhood bar, bowling centers, country western bars to adult entertainment clubs. Ron retired two years ago. After retirement, Ron spent many happy hours in his garage working on his cars and tractors, then sitting on the back porch sipping a diet Pepsi enjoying the evening, thinking about "what else needs fixing." Sundays he made sure to watch NASCAR and Monday nights were spent watching wrestling. He celebrated life - he lived, loved and played - finding the good and best in all and not dwelling on the negative - in other words - a life well lived by a man well loved.
Services will be held at Quinn Shalz Funeral home of Jacksonville Beach on November 20th at 1:00pm. Following there will be a celebration of life from 3:00-5:00pm at the world-famous Centerfold Lounge, 4351 Philips Highway, Jacksonville, FL.
Ron's ashes will be interned with Michelle at a later date at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL where they will be "Forever Together" as planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://www.nascarfoundation.org.
