Roger Robert Roman

January 12, 1944 — June 29, 2023

Roger Robert Roman, age 79, passed away on June 29, 2023. Born and raised in Allen Park, Michigan, Roger graduated from Allen Park High School in 1962. During his time there, he excelled in basketball and was honored as the most valuable player of the basketball team in his senior year.

After high school, Roger attended Northern Michigan University in 1964. Although he did not graduate, he cherished the experience and the friendships he made during his time there.

In service to his country, Roger joined the Army Reserves and received training as a paratrooper at Fort Dix in New Jersey in 1967.

In the 1970s, Roger relocated from Michigan to Orange Park, Florida. It was there that he met Jean. On July 21, 1979, they began a beautiful journey together in marriage. Roger and Jean were blessed with 42 wonderful years of love and companionship until Jean's passing in October 2021.

A loving father figure, Roger adopted Jean's two sons from a previous marriage, Scott and Shawn, on April 9, 1980. Family meant the world to him, and he embraced his role as a devoted father with open arms.

In 2010, Roger and Jean decided to make Atlantic Beach their home.

Roger embarked on a successful career as a realtor in Florida. Known for his professionalism and integrity, he worked for various firms throughout his career, including All Star Realty in Orange Park (which he co-founded with a colleague) and esteemed home builders Panitz and Providence.

Aside from his work achievements, Roger had a deep passion for sports. He had an impressive collection of sports memorabilia, with a special emphasis on the professional teams from his beloved Detroit, particularly the Detroit Red Wings.

Music played a significant role in Roger's life, and he had a diverse taste. While he cherished the sounds of Motown due to its roots in Detroit, he was also an ardent fan of Neil Diamond and the Rolling Stones.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Irene (Pat), Roger is survived by his sons, Scott and daughter-in-law Tanya, and Shawn and daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren, Jace Roman and Savannah Roman; sisters, Cyndy McCormick and her husband Mark, Renee Cuddy and her husband Todd; brother-in-law, Joseph Bachleda; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean; and sister, Bobbie Bachleda.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1423 8th Avenue N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Roger will be inurned in the Columbarium of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
