Robert “Bob” Patrick McGinty, 82, of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 3, 2025. Born on March 16, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Ella Louise McGinty, Bob lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 42 years, Lynn (Henry) McGinty, who passed away in March 2021.
Bob is survived by his three children and their families: Sean McGinty, his wife Michelle, and their son Jack (17); Jessica Evans, her husband Ronald, and their children Spencer (16) and Annabelle (11); and Katie Schmidt, her husband John, and their children Charlotte (13) and John (11). He is also survived by his sister, Eloise Howard, and many dear friends.
Bob’s life was marked by dedication to his country, his family, and his community. He attended Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Hawaii before joining the Hawaii National Guard and later the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he proudly served as a Certified Weather Observer.
After his military service, Bob found his true professional calling as a business broker. He and Lynn opened the first Sunbelt Business Broker franchise in Jacksonville, FL, where they worked side by side for over 20 years, helping others achieve their dreams.
Bob was a devoted husband and father who never missed an opportunity to support his family. From gymnastics meets and soccer games to Girl Scout events and dance competitions, he was always his children’s biggest cheerleader. His care and love were most evident as he faithfully supported Lynn during her battle with Frontal Lobe Dementia, embodying the vows they had exchanged decades earlier.
In his later years, Bob became known as “The Mayor of the Starling” at Nocatee, welcoming new residents with his warmth and kindness. He loved Wii Golf, holding the highest score in the community, but his true passion was his faith. Bob led Bible studies, gifted Bibles to others, and cherished conversations about God.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. While his absence leaves an unfillable void, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is reunited with Lynn and embraced by the Lord.
