Robert Joseph Williams

Robert “Tiger” Williams (Bob) passed away on May 9, 2023, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in St. John’s, KY, on August 2, 1934, to William and Josephine Williams. He grew up in Louisville, KY, graduated from Flaget High School, enlisted in the Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict.  

After discharge he started his railroad career with the L&N RR and retired from CSX Technology in 1995.

Although he attended the University of Louisville, he was an avid University of Kentucky fan and loved his family, the Wildcats, Jaguars, Braves, all birds, old westerns, and the game of golf.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, sister Elsie Thornbury and brothers Roger, Bud, and John.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dianne; sons, Joey and Greg (Kristen); daughter, Cynthia Douglas (Ron); and grandchildren, Alex and Cyrus Williams (Yui), Madison Baker (Nick) and Hannah and Alyssa Hatfield; sisters-in-law, Rose Ann, Micki and Millie Williams, cousins, nieces, nephews and his golf family.

Bob will be interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery and all services will be private.
