Robert Lee Gibbs III of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was born November 11th, 1984, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Robert L. Gibbs and Shirley Gibbs. Robert was a loving son and devoted father to his two children, Carter C. Gibbs and Celine E. Gibbs. Robert accepted Christ in his life at a very young age. He was a member of Jack and Jill of America throughout his teenage years. Robert’s passion for music, travel and adventure took him to many fascinating places near and far. Robert transitioned from this life to everlasting life on Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Robert graduated from Allen D. Nease High School in 2003 where he was voted by the student body as Homecoming King and Best Dressed. Afterwards he went on to attend Florida A&M University before becoming a Licensed Insurance Agent for State Farm. He worked side by side with his father, mother and brother for many years where he showcased his unique ability to communicate and relate to people through his charm, joy, wit and infectious laughter. Robert was very instrumental in maintaining the family business, in addition to the building of his younger brother’s agency.
Robert’s legacy will forever live on through his loving children, Carter and Celine Gibbs, and all those he touched: Alison West; father, Robert L. Gibbs; mother Shirley Gibbs; brother, Jonathan Gibbs, Christin Norris; sister, Cicely (Terrance) Manning; Uncles: Samuel (Barbara) Mitchell, Willie (Brandy) Mitchell, Alonzo (Cynthia) Mitchell, Thomas Gibbs, Dr. Frederick (Dr. Gwen) Gibbs; Aunts: Vera Morris, Barbara Orton, Bessie (Robert) Bryant, Annette (Fred) Garnette of Baxley, GA, Rosemarie (Gene) Parsons, Karen (Billy) Fletcher of Tallahassee, FL, Suzette (Michael) Bouie of Tallahassee, FL, all others of Jacksonville, FL; devoted friend, Sarah Bartholomew and a host of other family and friends.
Viewing will be Friday, October 1, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church followed by burial at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
