Robert Dickinson

Robert “Bob” Christopher Dickinson, 66, passed away peacefully April 11, 2016 surrounded by family. Bob was born November 11, 1949 in Jacksonville, FL and grew up in Jacksonville Beach, FL.  He was raised with love and an appreciation for family and friends.

A proud Fletcher 1967 graduate he was deeply involved in making sure the class reunions were enjoyed by all. Bob held many fond memories and lifelong friendships from his youth growing up in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

In 1971 Bob married Shirley Bowen. Four years later they were blessed with their beautiful daughter Kimberly, the apple of her daddy’s eye.

In 1975 Bob joined the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office where he proudly served for over 32 years. Through the years he truly loved the various members of his squad and was proud to have played a small role in their development as police officers.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob was a member of Ribault Lodge No.272 as well as a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA Valley of Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents Eugene Sr. and Anna Dickinson; and sister Ruthye Fishburne. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Shirley Bowen Dickinson; daughter Kimberly(Scott) Stiles; stepdaughter Katy (John) Dumont; brother Eugene (Marinette) Dickinson; sisters, Carla Leach and Janet Dickinson; grandchildren Brett Stanley, Hannah Simpson, Holden Wendel, Summer Stiles and Cameron Stiles; as well as beloved in-laws Mable and Jimmy Howard; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

A celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, 465 Eleventh Avenue N. Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.

Flowers are welcomed but if preferred, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Community Hospice of NE Florida or to St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church.
