Robert Cannistraro

November 30, 1941 — August 28, 2017

Robert P. Cannistraro (Bob), 75, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2017, with family by his bedside holding his hands. Bob was born on November 30, 1941 in Waltham, MA. He grew up in Waltham, lived in Westport, MA and later resided in St. Mary’s, GA.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Rose (Richard); his children Christine, Robert and wife Valerie, Vincent and wife Olga, John, Jaclyn, Rocco and wife Liz, Michael and wife Christina; grandchildren Joseph, Rachel, Madeline, Emilia, Evelyn, Stephanie, Brandon, and Julia; brothers Vincent, David (Butchie), Leonard, Richard and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Michael.

Bob was raised in Waltham and spent his career working in Telecommunications. His larger than life personality, strong work ethic, and keen business sense lead to much success as he still worked at the age of 75. When not traveling the world on business, he loved to fish Buzzard’s Bay; prepare Italian cuisine for his family; travel to Italy and Sicily to embrace his Italian heritage; and most importantly spend quality time with family and friends. The words that will come to mind when Bob is remembered are dedication, loyalty, family, respect and generosity. Bob had many nicknames through the years, but he will always be remembered as Papa...The Man…The Myth…The Legend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions for Mayo Clinic Florida be sent to: Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32224. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2017 at The Clubhouse at Osprey Cove, 123 Osprey Drive, St. Mary's, GA.  Join the family to share stories and memories, as they celebrate life lived to the fullest.
