Rickey Lee Toney

Rickey Lee Toney (1958 - 2024), passed away Friday, July 19, 2024. Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he dedicated himself to serving our country in the United States Army. He was an expert Rifleman & Tank Operator. He met his wife, Bonnie in 1982 in Neptune Beach at The Sea Turtle Inn. The couple had three children: Stephanie, Jennifer and Eric. After he served in the military, he was a long-distance truck driver and business owner. Rick was deeply loved by his devoted wife, who took care of him until his dying day. Bonnie dedicated 41 years to building a life with Rick and 25 years to being his constant advocate and caregiver when he fell ill and needed a liver transplant. Rick survived and thrived beyond his surgery for 18 years, while fighting other health conditions. He also tirelessly supported his wife when she had uterine cancer. During those years, he was blessed with a second chance at life. He walked both his daughters down the aisle, shared in his son's formative years, enjoyed precious time with his only grandchildren and two additional sons, Douglas and Chad. He took his family very seriously and will leave a lasting footprint on the hearts of all. His family will be forever changed by his tireless spirit and drive to help others. He was known as someone who was very real, always willing to lend a hand, joke with and respect. His nickname to many was "trouble". His service will be held at Quinn Shalz Family Funeral Home & Cremation Centre August 4, 2024, at 2pm located at 3600 Third Street South Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. He will receive military honors at his service and will be laid to rest in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
