Richard Alan Helgeson

Richard A. Helgeson (72) of Ballwin, Missouri and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida passed away at home on Saturday January 4, 2025, after a brave battle of cancer. He was surrounded with love by his wife and his family. Richard was born November 28, 1952, and was raised in Naplate/Ottawa, Illinois.

Professionally, Richard worked for Eaton Corporation as a quality assurance manager. He was given the opportunity to travel to many countries for his job. In his retirement years, Richard enjoyed spending time at the beach. If there is Heaven for me, I’m sure it has a beach attached to it.

Richard’s greatest pride in life was his wife, Gloria, four children: Troy (Danielle) Helgeson, Amy (Steve) Bopp, Scott (Amy) Helgeson, and Nathan (Tiffany) Helgeson, and seven grandchildren: Logan, Cole, Eli, Avery, Oscar, Ralph, and Nora.

He enjoyed coaching his children’s youth sports, being a boy scout leader, and running many races as a long-distance runner. His grandchildren all held a special place in his heart. “Poppy” was always his favorite title. He never missed their sporting events or school programs and was their biggest fan, supporter, and consoler.

He will be forever in our hearts.
