Richard (Rick) Michael Coram, 80, went home to be with the Lord, his wife Jean, and so many other loved ones March 28, 2024. He was born in Michigan City, Indiana on April 30, 1943. Rick grew up in West Virginia and then moved to Florida. He joined the Navy in 1963, serving on the USS Farragut out of Mayport Naval Station. He then attended the University of South Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting; afterword moving to Jacksonville Beach where he began a 28-year career for the City of Jacksonville in the Council Auditor’s office, raised a family, and touched the lives of many.
Rick was born with a servant’s heart, full of compassion and love. He was a giving soul who embraced everyone equally. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, music, and dancing. He was an avid pool player as a younger man and later became a top-notch tennis player. Rick loved a good burger, an occasional cold beer, and maintaining his meticulously manicured lawn. He worked hard to earn quite a reputation as a jokester, playfully harassing anyone who dared give him the opportunity. His infectious kindness and big smile will be missed by many.
Rick is survived by his children, Helena (Mike) and Rick (Debbie); grandchildren, Jonah, and Gabe; and a very large extended family.
A Memorial Celebration will be held 2pm Friday, April 5th at The Church of Eleven22 (14286 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville). Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (alzfdn.org).
