Richard S. Brymer, Sr., 85, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
He was born in Shelby, NC, to the late Floyd and Pearl Brymer. His family moved to Jacksonville when he was 10 yrs old and they eventually moved to Jacksonville Beach, where he lived the rest of his life. He graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher in 1952. He met his wife, Carol Rochester Brymer, while they both attended Fletcher. She was a cheerleader and he was on the football team.
He served in the Korean Conflict and when he returned, he married Carol. He worked for the U.S. Postal service for 2 years before becoming employed by Bell South. He retired from Bell South after 40 years. Richard also was a charter member of the Ocean Park Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan "Ryan" Brymer; brothers, Floyd, Jr. and Douglas.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 63 yrs, Carol; sons: Richard S., Jr. and James D. (Richard); grandson: Geoffrey I. Brymer (Jennifer); and sister, Betty Belson (Lloyd).
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 2nd in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm. Burial will be held Thursday, May 3rd at 10:00am at Beaches Memorial Park with funeral services at 11:30am at Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 3rd St. South (A1A) Jacksonville Beach, with Rev. Christian Partyka officiating. Celebration luncheon to follow at Ocean Park Baptist Church 402 16th Ave. South Jacksonville Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Ocean Park Baptist Church Youth.
