CHERAULT Phyllis George Cherault Grammy, 87, went to be with Jesus in her heavenly home on March 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with a long illness. Her devotion and dedication to her family and her undying faith and belief in God supported her through her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Grammy was born to the late Pearl W. and Charles R. George in Jacksonville Florida on December 5, 1928. She was an executive with the American Red Cross here in Jacksonville for over 30 years. She served as Director of Volunteers and Public Relations. Grammy was blessed with a large and loving family. Anyone who knew her knew that her family and Jesus were her two identities. She raised her three daughters with patience and humility. She was often heard saying you are no better than anyone and no one is better than you. She taught the girls to bind together with strength, love, and affection. The bond of her family that she leaves behind is a testament and a monument to the Godly woman she was. She spent her entire life building unity and a foundation into her family while pouring the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ into them. She did this by example and was a living testament of Agape love. Grammy was an evangelist at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken and always had time to answer a question or just listen to a broken heart. Well into her 70s she was still actively street witnessing and leading strangers to the Lord. She was able to attend a mission trip to Russia with her church and part of the family and she was changed forever. Grammy knew no strangers, invariably at the first meeting of anyone she met in her life always started with a big hug and a nice to meet you darlin. Her mission was to love, serve and always walk in humility. The influence she has made in the lives of her family and friends will have an eternal influence. She was famous for always putting herself last and every one else first. Grammy is survived by her three daughters, Phyllis Phebe Vandigriff (Maryse) , Jaime Cherault Gibbs (Gil), Elaine Cherault Pierce (Mark) and her nephew William Calcagni (Mary), Bill was more like a son than a nephew. She had five grandchildren, Erika Jackson (Kyle), Grant Gibbs (Alyssa), Lt. Mark Pierce Jr., Garrett Gibbs (Kaitie) and David McMillan (Natalie). She had 7 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson. There was always a struggle to see who got to sit on Grammys lap at every family function. She had a very unique relationship with each and everyone of her children, her nephew, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found a special way into each of their hearts. She was constantly surrounded by love and her family until she drew her last breath. She was preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Charles and her loving sister, Sara Calcagni. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses that showed her so much love and compassion. Specifically Dr. Stratus Lagoutaris, Dr. Samuel Fern, and Dr. Pedro Malavet. She was well known for delivering a special baked treat on certain occasions to those who cared for her.
