Penny "Granny" K. Hunter, 90, passed away June 4, 2022. She was born August 7, 1931 to Frank and Ethel Kloss in Cincinnati, OH.
Penny came to the Jacksonville area in the 1960's and started working for AT&T as an overseas operator. She retired after 25 years of service and began babysitting her grandchildren and the children in her community. She was well known for her "Mickey Mouse House", and her animal farm which included her beloved goat "Butthead", geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits, peacocks, squirrels and fish. Children loved to be with her at her home. More than anything, Penny loved spending time talking and drinking coffee with her family, getting a good deal at an early Saturday morning garage sale, and working in her yard. Her wit and jokes will go unmatched. She will be missed most by her loving family and by all of those in the community who she helped take care of.
Penny is survived by her daughter, Cherie (Delmar) Gray; son, Robert "Stormy" L. Hunter, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin (Kari) Hunter, Jason Gray, Donald (Kris) Gray, Summer Hunter, Robert (Susan) Hunter II, Ashlee (Mark) Arceneaux, Brittani (Tyler) Boyle, Paul "Rooster" Williams; son-in-law, Daniel West; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Hunter; countless nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her children Robert K. Hunter, Judy West, grandchild Travis "Bear" Williams and bestfriend Colleen Wells.
