Paul Jeffery Wood, 61, passed away on June 22, 2021. He was born February 1960 in South Carolina and grew up in Moses Lake, WA. Paul proudly served for 30 years in the Army throughout the U.S., Germany, and the Middle East. Following his military retirement, Paul was a financial adviser at Cliffton Larson Allen in Washington state until June 2020. In October 2020, he moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near his children and grandchild.
An avid cyclist, Paul was a member of Adventure Cycling Association and the North Florida Bicycling Club. In Jacksonville, he took an active role in the local bicycling community by promoting cycling safety and working to expand routes throughout Florida. A faithful and devoted Catholic, Paul made time each day for spiritual reflection. He and Michelle cherished their time spent together at mass. Above all, Paul was a proud and loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Michelle; three children Kathryn (David), Kimberly (Conor), and David; his granddaughter Rhylee; siblings Mike Proteau (Rosie), Barbara Wagner, Gloria Slagle (Tom), and Scott. He is predeceased by his parents Orval and Marion Wood as well as his brother-in-law, Randal Wagner.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at noon at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 1st Ave North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
A reception will be held July 2, 2021 from 1:30pm - 5:30pm at the Tamaya Clubhouse,12788 Meritage Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246.
Interment will take place at East Lincoln Cemetery in Amery, WI. The date will be finalized at a later time.
