Patricia Roberts Shatley, a beloved resident of Jacksonville, Florida, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, laughter, and a profound impact on the lives of those who knew her.
Patricia, affectionately known as Tricia, was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and compassion, touching those she met with her engaging smile and generous spirit.

Tricia was born on July 21, 1972 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Otto Roberts and Edith Dressler Roberts. She grew up in Canterbury, Connecticut and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1990 where she excelled as an athlete in track and soccer, earning induction into the esteemed Norwich Sports Hall of Fame. Continuing her academic journey, she obtained a BA in Business Administration from Villanova University in 1994, followed by a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Delaware in 1997. Following her education, Tricia embarked on a fulfilling career, initially working at the University of Miami before settling in Jacksonville to raise her family. Her greatest joy in life was her role as a devoted mother to her two daughters, Leah and Lexi, whom she adored beyond measure. Tricia cherished numerous family traditions, including annual Halloween parties, Friday pizza nights, birthday celebrations, summer vacations in North Carolina, and festive gatherings in Connecticut in the summer and during the holidays. She is survived by her father, Otto Roberts of St. Augustine, Florida, sister Lorraine Dooley and husband Chris Dooley, and their children Caitlin and Christopher Dooley of Brooklyn, CT. She is also predeceased by her loving mother, Edith Dressler Roberts. Tricia’s life was enriched by the love and support of countless neighbors, friends, and relatives. She found solace and joy in activities such as tennis, golf and her newfound passion for teaching self defense to women. Tricia enjoyed leisurely days at the beach, traveling, and skiing adventures with her partner, Spencer Milford. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her, as she leaves behind an enduring legacy of love and inspiration.
