Patricia Joy Hollingsworth, 74, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2019. Joy was born February 25, 1945 in Calhoun, Georgia. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida for the last 32 years of her life.
A cherished grandmother, mother, local business owner, and friend, she will be greatly missed by the entire Beaches community. True to her name, she brought joy to all those who visited her shop, Cottage by the Sea, a business she launched out of her home in the 1990s. In addition to raising a son, Jack, and a daughter, Gaye, Joy raised her granddaughter, Ginny, from the time she was just two months old. She was active in the local community, having served on the boards of the Ponte Vedra Women’s Club, the local Investment Club and many others, and having founded the Jacksonville Beach Christmas for the Needy Meal.
Known as "Mema" to her grandchildren, Joy was kind, loyal, hardworking, creative and resilient. She was a wonderful friend and an even better confidante. Her loss will be felt deeply, and by many, for years to come.
A memorial is planned for November at Cottage by the Sea.
