Olga Anna Liliskis, 89, passed away peacefully on Jan. 16, 2014. She was born in Lithuania on Aug. 28, 1924. She immigrated to America in 1950 with her husband, Andrew Liliskis, and infant daughter. The family grew to include two sons. The family resided in Connecticut until 1966, relocating to the Jacksonville area until 1978, when she and her husband became permanent residents of St. Augustine, Fla.
While raising her family, Olga relished her role as a homemaker. Family was precious to her, and she lived for family gatherings. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved preparing feasts for her family and tending to her flower beds. Fluent in German and Lithuanian, she often wrote poetry in both languages.
Olga applied the same dedication and attention to detail in her career as a nursing assistant and ward secretary for nearly three decades. Many of her patients sent thank you notes and stayed in touch years after she retired. She is remembered for her caring and generosity.
Olga is predeceased by her parents, sisters and beloved husband, Andrew. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Helga Nehl; sons, Martin Liliskis of St. Augustine, Fla., and Andrew Liliskis and his wife, Cynthia Mosling; and beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Noah Liliskis, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in St. George Episcopal Church, Ft. George Island of Jacksonville, Fla., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BEAKS Inc., 12084 Houston Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32226.
