Nina Maria Campbell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nina Campbell, a strong and independent woman full of zest for life. Born on January 7, 1948, she passed away on May 13, 2024. Nina's life was centered on her core principles: staying healthy, having fun, and never letting age define her. She lived life on her own terms, imparting this spirit of indomitable will and joy to her beloved children and grandchildren.

Nina is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Clear; father, Archelus Campbell; sister, Janet Hayman; daughter, Melissa Spencer; nephew, Frankie Hayman. She is survived by her sister, Lora Healy; half-sisters, Lisa Campbell and Leslie Hecht; brother, Tony Campbell; daughter, Jennifer Belisario; grandsons, Bill Brady Logan Thomas and James Spencer; granddaughters, Kayla Hotaling and Gabrielle Belisario; nieces, Shirley Dunham, Carolyn Martin, Julie Hayman Baptist, Paula Hayman Fridell, Amy Hall Gutzmer, Alyson Lutynski, and Amber Murray all who carry forward Nina’s enduring spirit. Along with her human family, she deeply loved her kitties including her newest babies, Guy and Shorty. Her approach to life, filled with tenacity and the courage to express oneself freely, has shaped the paths of many in her family circle and beyond.

Throughout her life, Nina nurtured a close-knit group of friends, some of whom have shared more than four decades of memories with her. These friendships, along with her loving family, form an integral part of her legacy. This community of loved ones bears testament to the vibrant, loving soul that she was.

An avid fan of following the Seminoles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Formula 1 racing, Nina's enthusiasm extended beyond her personal sphere to the wider world of sports. She also had a green thumb and took great pleasure intending to her vast array of plants. Her evening walks, a routine act of communion with the world around her, spoke volumes about her appreciation for the simpler aspects of life.

In her final months, Nina experienced a newfound love with Mark Basso. This connection brought forth a radiant joy that she cherished deeply. The memories and love that Nina has left behind will remain part of our lives, reminding us to live fully and fearlessly, just as she did.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
