Michael “Joey” Brantley, passed away in the early morning hours of Sep 10, 2016, due to complications from a heart surgery, he was 68 years old.
Joey was a Jacksonville Beach resident nearly all his life and was an avid surfer. As young man Joey proudly served his country by joining the Navy and serving in Vietnam where he was an ordnance man on the USS America.. He owned a local auto body shop, All Beach Body, with his wife Laraine.
Joey was survived by his wife, Laraine, son Michael and his wife Lisonia, daughter Sarah and her husband Marc, and his youngest son Chris. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren!
Joey was a decorated Vietnam veteran and will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in a private ceremony. A paddle out for the celebration of his life will be in Jacksonville Beach where he surfed for nearly 60 years.
