On September 29, 2021, Merlin Jacob Mickler, Jr, “Bubba” went to be with our Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loved ones. Bubba was born in Palm Valley, FL to the late Merlin Jacob Mickler, Sr and Edna Mildred Mickler.
Bubba was one of the original “Valley Boys” born and raised in what’s known to most as the Guana. He spent many years working for the City of Jacksonville Beach Electric Dept. When he wasn’t working for the city or out on a shrimp boat, he could be found in the neck doing what he loved best – hunting and fishing.
After moving to Madison, FL in 2002, he’s been actively involved in his church, Bellville Baptist Church, where he enjoyed hosting the monthly men’s fellowship.
You knew you were loved by Bubba if you were being teased. He cherished his friendships and leaves all his buddies behind with great stories and memories until he’ll “see them later!”.
Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan Mickler; children: Gina (Javiar) Garcia, Jacob (Sherry) Mickler, Devon (Marcus) Roell, James (Danielle) Mickler; 14 grandchildren that all knew him as “Papa”; siblings: Fay, Merlene, Brenda (Danny) and Raymond (Rhetha); and many cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, Friday, October 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home. Following the visitation, there will be a procession through Palm Valley to Sampson Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bellville Baptist Church, 3906 NW County Road 152, Jennings, FL 32053.
