Melissa Patterson Patton, 52, passed away on March 2, 2014, after a long battle with breast cancer. Melissa was born July 29, 1961, at Fort Benning, Ga., and grew up in Long Beach, Miss. She moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in 1986, where she resided until her passing.
She graduated from Long Beach High School and University of Southern Mississippi. In the early '90s, she worked for ATP and had a great love for tennis. She was very active in her church, Palm's Presbyterian, and enjoyed working there from 2011-2012. Most of all, her greatest joy was being a homemaker, mother and wife.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 25 years, John, and her two sons, Spencer and Austin; brothers and sister, Cecil (Pat) Patterson, Charles Patterson, both of St. Augustine, Fla., and Carl Patterson and Marcile Patterson Schruff, both of Long Beach, Miss.
She was very blessed to have many close relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 Third St., South Jacksonville, Fla.
