Matthew Smith

SMITH Matthew Michael Smith, 52, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home. Matt grew up in Wheatfield, IN. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1986. In 1987 he moved to Jacksonville Florida, where he met his wife and soul mate. Matt was employed with the City of Jacksonville from 1988 to early 2016. He enjoyed working with The best group of guys ever, especially the Polar Plunges and the awesome BBQ's. Everyone loved Matt's foodie tales. Matt is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Missy Smith; Daughter Marissa Smith; Son Thomas Read; Granddaughter Mackenzie Powell; Parents Tom and Mary Lee Smith; Sisters Julie London and Laura Costly; Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces who loved him dearly as well. He was preceded in death by his mother Janice Smith. A time of gathering will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home at 3 pm. 3600 3rd St S.
