Mary Woodey

August 8, 1921 — June 18, 2016

Mary Louise Pumphrey Woodey, 94, died of natural causes June 18, 2016.  She was born August 8, 1921 in Millersville, MD.  Daughter of the late Nathanial A. and Mary H. Pumphrey.   She graduated from Glen Burnie High School and married James W. Woodey in 1940.  Mary Lou moved to Surfside Beach in 1972 where she was a member of the 50+Retirement Club, NARF, Bridge Club, Canasta Club and Methodist United Church.   In 2011 Mary Lou moved to Camellia in Jacksonville, FL to be close to her family.  Mary Lou is survived by her daughter; Mary Louise Chandler, her son, James W. Woodey Jr., six grandchildren, Jay, Randy, Jennifer, Sean, Aaron, Paul and great grandchildren, Tommy, Trista, Dalton, Alysha, Sam, Caleb, Benjamin, Christian and Libby.

Mary Lou was a joy to everyone she new.  Always smiling with something nice to say.  She never complained and knew how to live life to the fullest.  More than anything, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.  Mary Lou will be greatly missed!  She had a strong personal relationship with the Lord.  Two of her favorite hymns are “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked”.  What a great Lady, Mom and Granny!

A memorial service will be held this Friday, June 24, 2016 at Camellia at Deerwood for close friends and family.
