Mary Nell Lay

Mary Nell Lay, 93, a lifelong resident of Athens passed away Tuesday morning 9/17/24, at The Cove of Marsh Landing Assisted Living in Jacksonville Beach Florida. She was the daughter of the late George and Effie Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lay and son, Jeffery. Sisters and brothers, Eileen Gann, Louise Chambers, June Vestal, George Snyder Jr., Bit Snyder and Jimmy Snyder.

Mary was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired sales associate at Proffitts. She and Frank had many loving pets through the years.

Survived by two daughters and son in laws Debbie and Dan Martin of Jacksonville, Florida; Terri and Lynn Beam of Savannah, Georgia. Sister, Carol Ann Seals, Athens and Amy Lay West, Athens.

Grandchildren, Brackton {Lacey} Pratt and Ashley {Steve} Lehwald.

Step grandchildren, Phillip {Valerie} Beam, Jeffery {Angela} Beam and Nathan Beam; Great grandchildren, Devon Pratt, Barrett Pratt, Brady Lehwald and Sophia Lehwald Step; Great grandchildren, Andrew Beam and Charlie Beam; Many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dana and Don Miller, Carol Seals, the staff at Morning Pointe and The Cove at Marsh Landing for the loving care they gave her.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Memorial Gardens, Athens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Athens Animal Shelter, 320 South Jackson Street. Athens.
