Mary Connolly

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Connolly died peacefully November 3, 2017 at age 93 with her family at her side.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas J. Connolly. As an Air Force JAG, Tom was assigned to places all over the world. Betty and their four children had adventures in Texas, Hawaii, Illinois, Pakistan, Virginia, Colorado, and the Philippines.  Upon Tom’s retirement, Betty and he moved to Venice, FL.  In 2004, after Tom’s death, Betty moved to Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach. She enjoyed many happy years there with new friends experiencing a multitude of social activities. The family is so grateful for the care she received during her time at Leeward Manor.

Betty is survived by her children: Pat Wells (Randy) of Amelia Island, Barbara Cole (Lee) of Nobel, OK, Janet Mullen (Steve) of Sturbridge, MA, and Bob Connolly (Terri) of Louisville, KY. She leaves 12 grandchildren: Jason Wells (Jenny), Tim Wells (Natalie), Marshall Cole, Dylan Cole (Rachel), Warren Cole (Cathy), Chris Mullen (Laura), Cara Mullen Johnsen (Aleck), Katrina Connolly Klenk (Matt), Kristen Stone (Tim), Kelley Barnaby (Nick), Megan Davies (Dryw), and Michael Connolly. She has 11 great-grandchildren: Wendy Wells, Olivia Cole, Emma Cole, Lucy Cole, Adelein Johnsen, Owen Klenk, Annika Klenk, Landon Stone, Ethan Stone, William Barnaby, and Charlotte Barnaby and two more due next month.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach. A gathering for family and friends will be held in the church lobby from 10:00-11:00 Saturday.
