Marjorie Masser Ramsay passed away on August 14, 2017, two months short of her 99th birthday. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and Massey Business College. She was a member of Church of the Redeemer, Anglican; Periwinkle Garden Circle; and San Jose Country Club. She was a life member of the Baptist Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. She and her husband were founding members of Brook’s Rehabilitation Hospital and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army, and was active in Bible teaching, evangelism, and prayer ministries. She helped care for numerous family members and friends, and her favorite pastime was visiting and phoning the home-bound.
She felt very blessed to have a loving family, dear friends, and a caring church community. She was loved by young and old, and will be remembered for her sunny disposition, boundless energy, loving nature, generosity, patriotism, and faith.
She was predeceased by Watson Ramsay, her husband of 66 years; her parents, Lily and L. Bert Masser; and a sister, Eileen Masser Robinson. She is survived by her three children, Linda Ramsay Tilton of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Lyle Masser Ramsay and Thomas Watson Ramsay of Jacksonville; a cousin, Ian Masser; a niece, Lynn Robinson Smith; a nephew Charles Robinson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews by marriage.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock on Tuesday, August 22, at Church of the Redeemer, Anglican, 4815-200 Executive Park Court.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Coast Women’s Services; St. Mary’s Outreach Ministries; City Rescue Mission; Intervarsity Christian Fellowship; Church of the Redeemer, Anglican; or the charity of your choice.
