Marilyn Catherine Smith Wyrick, 83, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, surrounded by her husband and five children in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Marilyn was born August 28, 1939, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Ralph and Elizabeth Smith, and she was the third of five children. She married the love of her life, Andrew G Wyrick, Jr., on December 27, 1958. Marilyn was raised on Lake Michigan, where she learned to sail from her father, who sailed the Logging Ships from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the south. She carried that love of sailing throughout her life, as she taught her husband & children how to sail, and she spoke to anyone she could about her love of sailing. Marilyn loved raising her five children, often taking them camping and to the beach.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Andy; sons, Andrew III, David (Cheryl), William; daughters Elizabeth (James) McCarthy and Lynn (Gary) McLean; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Marie) Smith and sister Elaine Creager.
Catholic Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023 in St John the Baptist Catholic Church with Reverend Rafael Lavilla as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Guadalupe Center https://www.guadalupecenter.org/. Reception to follow at the Fleet Landing Annex Building from noon to 3:00 pm.
