McCormick, Marie T.
Marie Therese McCormick, fondly known as "Tess", passed away October 7, 2015. She was born on February 20, 1948 in Lima, Ohio and grew up with her parents and six brothers in Macungie, PA. Tess attended St. Ann's School in Emmaus, PA and Allentown Central Catholic High School. She graduated with a BA in Sociology from University Del Sagrado Corazon in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1970. After working for many years for the Catholic Social Agency in Allentown, PA, she moved to Philadelphia where she worked for ARCO and then Temple University in Employee Relations. In 1990, Tess graduated with a Master of Public Administration from Temple University. She moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida in 1995 with her mother, and embarked on a trip around the world. She worked at Mayo Clinic for many years before recently retiring. She volunteered at Beaches Mission House and the Red Cross but mostly she cared for her family with particular devotion to her mother, friends and those in need. She was an auxiliary member of the Veterans of Anzio Beachhead World War II. Tess was a faithful member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Ponte Vedra. She was predeceased by her father, Bernard Hugh and brothers, Bernard Hugh Jr. and Robert Francis. Tess is survived by her loving mother, Ramona of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and her brothers Thomas (Dr. Mary O'Connor) of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Daniel (Mary Ellen) of Forty Fort, PA, Timothy of Australia, William (Claire) of Lower Gwynedd, PA and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Services: Relatives and friends will be received at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Reverend Ed Shaner as Celebrant. Rosary immediately preceeding Mass will be said in the church.
