Marie Teresa McDonagh Hanlon passed away peacefully at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Monday June 12, 2017 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving husband of 58 years, John, and members of her family. Marie was born in New York City on City Island and is predeceased by her dearly loved siblings, Thomas McDonagh, Bonnie Jackson and Evelyn Palmer. She had a long career as an executive secretary at the New York Daily News, where she met her husband John. Together they had six wonderful children - Joanne McDermott (Vinny), John (Sharon), Jacqueline Piemonte (Raffaele) , James (Dana), Jean Littler (Rick) and Jeff (Desiree) . They were blessed with 11 amazing grandchildren. Marie loved her family dearly and was never as happy as when the whole family was together, laughing and playing music. She was an exceptional woman and will be greatly missed.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, June 16, 2017 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Rev. David Keegan as Celebrant.
